Piko Story ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and name through our authentication providers (Google or Apple Sign-In). We do not store your passwords.

Photos

If you choose to upload photos to create characters, these photos are stored securely in your account and used to generate character illustrations. We use your photos only to create the requested illustrations. Both the original photos and the AI-generated character images are stored in your account.

Face Data (Reference Photos)

You may optionally upload face images (reference photos) to help generate illustrations that resemble your characters. Providing a photo is entirely optional and is not required to use the Service. These images are used solely for the purpose of generating story illustrations and ensuring character likeness. We do not share face images with third parties. Only the account owner who uploaded a reference photo can access the original image.

Why we store reference photos: Reference photos are stored so you can conveniently create new stories featuring the same character without re-uploading each time.

Retention period: Reference photos are retained for as long as the associated character exists in your account. When a character is deleted, its reference photos are removed. If you delete your account, all data — including reference photos, characters, stories, and illustrations — is permanently deleted.

Generated Content

We store the stories, characters, and illustrations you create within the app. This content is associated with your account and stored securely.

Usage Information

We collect anonymous analytics data about how you use the app, including features accessed and errors encountered. This helps us improve the Service.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Service
  • To generate personalized stories and illustrations
  • To process your transactions and manage your account
  • To send you updates, notifications, and marketing communications (with your consent)

AI Service Providers

We use third-party AI services to generate story text and illustrations:

  • Google Gemini (paid API tier) — generates story illustrations. Under Google's paid API terms, your data is not used to train or improve their models. See Google's Gemini API Terms of Service.
  • Anthropic Claude (paid API tier) — generates story text. Under Anthropic's usage policy, your data is not used to train their models.

When you create a story, the following data is sent to these services:

  • Character details (name, age, description)
  • Story prompt and preferences
  • Reference photos, if you have uploaded any for your characters

This data is processed solely to fulfill your request. We obtain your explicit consent in the app before any data is sent to these services.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Piko Story is designed for parents and guardians to create stories for their children. The app is not intended for use by children under 13 without parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:
